Assured Claims Service inc.
Below you can read about two of the many claims we’ve handled and how we were able to assist the insureds by ensuring that their policies were properly applied and the maximum settlement reached. Although we handle all peril related losses the following claims include fire and water.
When does experience Count?
A fire erupted in the attached garage engulfing it along with a section of the single family residence. The insurance carrier was contacted and a claim filed. The staff adjuster assigned along with a contractor inspected the damage. An estimate was prepared and adjusted by the staff adjuster and thereafter a recommendation for payment under the building portion of the claim in the amount of $59,112.16. It was at this juncture that the insured decided to hire Assured Claims Service (ACS) to assist them with their claim. We immediately contacted the adjuster and arranged for a walk through at the property.
The meeting included the staff adjuster, a supervisor and engineer who was engaged by the carrier. We contented that because of the intensity of the fire it caused the retaining wall to shift, undermining the structural integrity of the dwelling. In response to our query regarding the integrity of the foundation the structural engineer expressed in his expert opinion that there was a correlation between the fire and the structural compromise. Upon reaching a consensus that there was a relationship the door was open for significant remedial reconstruction of the insured’s home. We ultimately settled the building portion of the claim for over $300,000.
When you need it!
We don’t owe you for that, yes you do!
A water supply line ruptured beneath the kitchen sink flooding the entire area. The water flowed in the kitchen, Living Room, Dining Room, Hall and adjoining rooms. We arranged for a walk through with the Farmers staff adjuster. At the appointed time we met with the adjuster and conducted an inspection of the damages. There were areas of difference in our perspective as to the scope of damages. Of note was the approach to the restoration of the cabinets and repairs to the ceramic tile floors. The staff adjuster, as in most cases, believed that the kitchen cabinets could be saved as wells as patching the tile floor. The policy wording that is typically used is “reasonable uniformity”. The wording provides the insurance carrier with enough wiggle room to allow significant latitude. As Public Adjusters our responsibility is to use our expertise and resources to combat the misapplication of the policy language to the detriment of our clients. We presented an argument to address the cabinets and flooring. With our knowledge and experience we were able to justify the replacement of both the kitchen cabinets and flooring increasing the insured’s claim exponentially.
